Canada is taking steps to shield international students from rising living costs and housing challenges.

• Financial safeguards implemented:
  Starting January 1, 2024, the cost-of-living requirement for study permit applicants in Canada will double, increasing from CAN 10,000 to CAN 20,635 for a single applicant.

• Empowering student employment:
  To assist international students further, the temporary measure allowing them to work unlimited hours while studying has been extended until April 30, 2024.
• Continued flexibility in PGWP eligibility:
  Online study will continue to count toward post-graduation work permit (PGWP) until September 2024, provided it constitutes less than 50% of the total course.
